Free Range Turkey Not So “free” Range

Those who are opting for free-range turkeys this holiday season may not get what they’re paying for. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the sole criteria for labeling a turkey as free-range is that turkeys be allowed to go outside. A poultry specialist at U.C. Davis says most free-range birds are fenced in.
