If your New Year´s Eve plans take you to Tahoe or Reno, you´ll have a slow go of it this morning.
The California Highway Patrol has just reopened Highway 50. A slide forced the road´s closure earlier this morning.
Chains are required and traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction five and a half miles east of Pollock Pines. The CHP says visibility on the Donner Summit hit zero early this morning.
Highway 88´s Carson spur and Carson pass to South Lake Tahoe remains closed for avalanche control.
Westbound Highway 80 is still closed at the Nevada State Line and eastbound vehicles are required to use chains.
