Firefighters doused a blaze near the Gold Strike Mobile Home Park in San Andreas yesterday afternoon. It
was started shortly before 2:00 by children playing with fire.
Crews had to drop retardant to stop the fire, and about 15 gallons of it got into the North
Fork of the Calaveras River. About an acre of grass and oak woodland was lost.
