Red Light Runners Beware

A San Diego judge today upheld the use of cameras used to catch red-light runners. But the judge also
ruled that evidence collected by the devices is unreliable and should not be admitted as evidence against motorists.

The split decision sets the stage for a
continuing fight over the cameras. Judge Ronald Styn rejected arguments that the cameras violate the privacy and due-process protections of the
Constitution.
