Cal-Trans Puts Bypass on Hold

Published Sep 27, 2001 7:32 am : Updated Jan 31, 2009 5:55 pm

Cal-Trans has suspended the construction contract for the Highway 108 Bypass in East Sonora. The
agency told a session of the Tuolumne County Planning Council last night it´s seeking a design compromise to avoid damage to Mi-Wuk Tribal artifacts
unearthed at the Hess Avenue interchange this summer.

A committee representing the federal Highway Commission and Mil-Wuk Tribal Council will
be formed to work out a way to protect the artifacts.
