Morro Bay Nearly Reopened

Published Oct 4, 2001 6:17 pm : Updated Jan 31, 2009 5:55 pm

The downtown district in Morro Bay is expected to reopen at any time now following the evacuation of
some 3500 people. They were forced to leave at 7 a.m. so emergency crews could clean up a 300 gallon spill of anhydrous ammonia. The chemical leaked
from a refrigeration unit at an old fish processing plant. No one was hurt.
