Thousands of California workers get a late Christmas present on New Year´s Day – a raise.
For the second straight year, California is hiking its minimum wage by 50 cents an hour. The new hourly minimum is $6.75. Only Washington State has a higher rate: $6.90 an hour.
Workers love it. But many employers see it as another burden.
It´s the 19th raise in the minimum wage since it started in 1943, at 45 cents an hour.
