A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the Sierra Nevada above 4,000 feet, through 10 PM Sunday.
Some light snow showers may be seen today before heavier snowfall begins this evening and continues through Sunday.
The snow levels are around 4,000 feet today, before decreasing down to 2,500 feet on Sunday.
The total snow accumulation above the 4,000 foot elevation, will range between six inches and fifteen inches.
Gusty winds and blowing snow may create local whiteout conditions over the higher elevations.
Mountain travel delays, chain controls, and slippery road conditions are all possible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Campers and hikers should prepare for wintry conditions and dangerously cold wind chill temperatures.
A Winter Storm Warning for snow means there will be snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Travel is not recommended while the Warning is in effect. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
