Update at 2 p.m.: Thousands remain without power in the Mother Lode. PG&E updates that in Tuolumne County 6,188 customers are without lights from Groveland and along the Highway 108 corridor as detailed in the chart below:
The utility also report it stations in the county showed wind gusty exceeding 80 mph.
PG&E spokesperson Megan McFarland details that multiple crews are working as quickly as possible to assess damage and restore power. She adds crews are being sent to the most impacted locations and using helicopters to speed up restoration efforts. Crew assessments revealed 110 distribution poles, 218 crossarms, 121 transformers and 66,000 feet of primary conductor needs to be replaced across the service area.
McFarland also reports that at many locations, crews have experienced access issues due to fallen trees that have blocked roads to power outage areas. They continue to work with local law enforcement and other partners to safely clear hazards in order to make the necessary repairs and restore power to customers safely and as quickly as possible. The utility has not posted any updated estimated power restoration times.
Original post at 5:30 a.m.: Sonora, CA — There remain several thousand PG&E customers without power this morning after yesterday’s wind event.
Those still without electricity in Tuolumne County are in Jamestown, Groveland, and along Highway 108 corridor from Soulsbyville up past Strawberry. In Calaveras County, the lights remain out for those along the Highway 4 corridor from the Arnold area all the way into Alpine County.
The company relays that crews continue to make progress and they hope to have the power restored to all customers later today, but give no estimated restoration times.
