Gas Price Decline

Sonora, CA — The price of gas declined in California over the past two weeks, but the fall may be short lived.

The Lundberg Survey of Fuel prices found that California’s average price for regular unleaded is $3.95 a gallon, down six cents over the past two weeks. The national average fell about a penny over that same period, to $3.59.

In California, the lowest average for a large city is Sacramento at $3.79, and the highest is Los Angeles at $4.02. The myMotherLode.com gas price section shows that regular unleaded is selling in Sonora from $3.67 to $3.99. In San Andreas, the price is hovering at around $3.89.

However, officials that conducted the survey worry that the recent declines may be offset over the coming weeks. Crude oil futures jumped 10 percent over the past three weeks to $105.95 per barrel. Some refinery outages have created concerns about supply during the remaining summer months, and prices are projected to jump up a few cents over the coming weeks.
