Counties Win Gold At State Fair

Both the Calaveras Visitors Bureau and Tuolumne Visitors Bureau exhibits won awards at the California State Fair.

Tuolumne County earned enough points for a gold ribbon for its exhibit at the State Fair. The exhibit also received a special ribbon for Best Craftsmanship. Executive Director of Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau, Nanci Sikes, says, “Our beautiful exhibit is really retro. Its very nostalgic, it is Old Tuolumne County.” The Vacationland themed exhibit features a hallway with photos and features from the 1940’s and 1950’s.

Calaveras County also brings home a gold ribbon for its exhibit. Lisa Boulton, Executive Director of the Calaveras Visitors Bureau says Calaveras County won a Gold Ribbon for the fifth consecutive year and “Best Visitor Experience” for its interactive displays. The exhibit’s theme is “Calaveras: Your Family Adventure Land” and it features Calaveras’ family-friendly destinations, four hands-on games, and promotes activities like kayaking, gold panning, zip lining and hiking at Big Trees State Park.

The California State Fair runs daily in Sacramento through July 28th.
