Rim Fire Up To 250 Acres

A fire burning in the Stanislaus National Forest has now consumed 250 acres. 

The Rim Fire is burning in the Clavey River Canyon area, about a half mile east of the confluence of the Tuolumne River. No homes or structures are considered in immediate danger. Forest Service Spokesperson Jerry Snyder reports that helicopters have been focusing on making drops along the east flank of the fire. It is burning brush, oak and pine trees. 

CAL Fire reports that the Bridges Fire off Parrotts Ferry Road is still estimated to be 127 acres and 25% contained. Air and ground resources will remain on scene through today and likely again tomorrow. CAL Fire Spokesperson Lisa Williams adds that officials are keeping a close eye on the potential for thunderstorms in the Sierra Nevada region later today.

Both fires started on Saturday, and officials are still investigating the causes.
