Railroad Flat, CA — A Railroad Flat man is arrested for threatening a father and daughter at gun point with children sleeping nearby. Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home on the 2300 block of Wagner Road in Railroad Flat on Sunday around 12:20am for a report of an argument involving guns. Deputies spotted the suspects’ car driving away from the home and a chase began. Deputies later found the car at 34-year-old Richard Gastelum, Jr. home in Railroad Flat and he was arrested.
During the investigation, the three victims told deputies that the two men had walked into their home, pointed a shotgun, rifle and hand gun at them while accusing them of being “rats”. A female victim told investigators that Gastelum had pointed a handgun at them and she began to struggle with him when she feared he was going to shoot her father.
Gastelum is not talking to detectives and investigators are still trying to determine the identity of the second male suspect. The guns have not been found.
Gastelum was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, a felon in possession of firearm, carrying a loaded firearm with intent to commit a crime, committing a felony while out on bail, burglary, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Gastelum was just arrested this past August for being a felon in possession of a firearm for another incident.
