An Emergency Call For Rim Timber

Tuolumne County, CA – Congressman Tom McClintock says he doesn’t want the timber that can be salvaged from the blaze to go to waste. He is worried environmental groups will hold up the process with lawsuits. He plans to introduce two bills in the U.S. House of Representative this week.

Local Republican Congressman Tom McClintock says, “The bills will require that all the regulations be waived, direct the forest service to put all this timber out to bid, and to remove the legal obstacles for the timely process of this timber.”

Already, up for a vote this week is McClintock’s Healthy Forest Act which he plans to amend to include these requirements. He says he also plans to offer an emergency free standing bill just on the Rim Fire which will call for salvaging of the timber quickly.

Also, today the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors sent a letter to Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor Susan Skalski asking to expedite the sale of Rim Fire timber.
