The Tuolumne County Arts Alliance has a new name, logo, location and website. And this weekend, they are ready to celebrate California Arts Day with a large community celebration.
Connie O’Connor, the Executive Director for the Tuolumne County Arts Alliance (formerly the Central Sierra Arts Council), was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
The 2nd annual local celebration will take place over a two day period on Saturday and Sunday on their “new” campus and on Saturday night at the Sonora Opera Hall.
The new campus for the TCAA is located on Barretta Street in Sonora in two buildings on the Historic Dome Campus, including the old Parent Nursery School Building on the north side of the Dome.
The “Celebration of Arts” at the Historic Dome Campus is completely free, with events taking place on Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM and from 11 AM to 3 PM on Sunday. A free shuttle will transport people back and forth between the Sonora High parking lot on Barretta Street to the Cassina High parking lot (next to the Dome).
Over 25 demonstrations and performances will be found on the campus including ceramics, theater, photography, jewelry making, music, fabric decoration, printmaking, stained glass, felting, spinning and weaving, plein air painting and more.
On Saturday night there will be a dinner/fundraiser at the Sonora Opera Hall from 5PM to 8PM. Dinner will be served from Seven Sisters restaurant at Black Oak Casino Resort.
