Sonora, CA — Patients ranking helped to give SRMC that distinction. The National Research Corporation selected Sonora Regional Medical Center (SRMC) as one of three medical facilities to be awarded its 2013 Path to Excellence Award. Nearly 400 facilities nationwide were in the running for the title.
To earn the Value-Based Purchasing Champion award, patients ranked SRMC as being a top performer in quality care. The hospital was also recognized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for high performance on quality metrics.
SRMC officials say Value-Based Purchasing is a program required under the Affordable Care Act that shifts the way Medicare pays for health care. The shift is away from volume-based paying regardless of the quality of care to a value-based system which gives incentives for providing high-value, high-quality health care.
“Sonora Regional Medical Center is dedicated to providing excellent patient care,” said Jeff Eller, President and CEO. “The entire staff is deserving of this recognition for their hard work and dedication to our patients and families.”
This is the second nationally recognized award the Medical Center has received this quarter. Click here to read an earlier story on SRMC being recognized as a top performer.
