Stop light Out On Mono Way

Sonora, CA — A motorist alert, traffic is backed up on Mono Way near the Junction Shopping Center. A CHP officer is directing traffic at the Mono Way and Tuolumne Road intersection. The light is out due to a battery problem in the stop light. Caltrans is on scene to fix the problem, but traffic is backed up.

Update 1:15 pm: T.C. Community Resource Agency Deputy Director Duke York says the roadway is opened once again and the light is working. He says they are still trying to determined what caused the battery to drain and the light to go out.

Update 2:20 pm: CHP Spokesperson Nick Norton says the problem was caused by a malfunctioning transmitter in the transformer box that runs the stop light. He says the lights at the intersection have been flashing red since Sunday night, but were not fixed until today due to the Veterans Day Holiday.
