Yosemite, CA — A survey of visitors to Yosemite National Park, conducted before the Rim Fire and 16-day government shutdown, resulted in a 98% satisfaction rating. Visitors rated the park’s facilities, services and recreational opportunities. The survey was handed out to visitors in early August by the University of Idaho, Park Studies Unit for the National Park Service. Two hundred twenty five visitors responded to the written survey.
“A high visitor satisfaction rate is something we can all celebrate,” says Don Neubacher, Yosemite Superintendent. He added, “Yosemite employees and partners strive to provide exceptional service to the four million people who enjoy the park each year.”
The survey asked visitors to rate specific services. Some of those services included visitor centers, restrooms, ranger programs, outdoor recreation opportunities, hiking trails and roads. The rating ranged from “very good” to “very poor.”
