Sacramento, CA –A Sonora emergency worker is being honored for his outstanding service and leadership during the Rim Fire. William Caldera, Operations Manager of Tuolumne Counties EMS, has been awarded a Meritorious Service Award for 2013 by California’s Emergency Medical Services Authority.
Caldera was cited for recognizing the danger of the fire and directing his medics to evacuate Groveland residents, provide firefighter rehabilitation and verify credentials of responding volunteer personnel.
He is one of 23 EMS personnel across the state being rewarded for their exceptional work ethics. EMS Authority Director Dr. Howard Backer says, “These men and women epitomize the spirit and commitment to quality that embody these awards and deserve official recognition for their contributions in making California’s EMS system one of the best in the world.”
