The National Weather Service has ordered a Hard Freeze Watch from late Wednesday night through Saturday morning for both the central valley and the Mother Lode below 2000 feet.
Low temperatures will be near freezing on Tuesday night. The temperatures will fall into the twenties each night from Wednesday night into Saturday morning.
Locations include Sonora, Stockton and Modesto.
Cold temperatures could kill crops and sensitive vegetation, harm pets and livestock and could cause pipes to burst.
