The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for the central valley and the Mother Lode below 2000 feet, which is in effect from 2 am to 8 am Wednesday.
A Hard Freeze Warning has also been issued for both areas. The Hard Freeze Warning will be in effect from midnight Wednesday to 10 am Friday.
Overnight lows will range from the low twenties to thirty-two tonight and then range only from the upper teens to upper twenties on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
Cold temperatures could kill crops and sensitive vegetation, harm pets and livestock and could cause pipes to burst.
