Sonora, CA — Due to cold temperatures expected tonight an Emergency warming shelter has been opened in Tuolumne County.
Tuolumne County Office of Emergency Services Coordinator Tracie Riggs says, “It will be open at 6:00pm this evening, it’s opening at the behavior health crisis unit. Individuals will go into the 101 Hospital Road, the Health and Wellness Building [the old Tuolumne General Hospital building]. There is staff there 24/7 so there is a little buzzer they need to push the buzzer and staff will bring them in and they can take them upstairs and there will be snacks, water, cots and blankets set up for the night.”
Riggs says they could open other shelters in Groveland and may keep the Sonora one open, depending on if it is needed, until Tuesday.
