Sonora, CA β The Tuolumne County Emergency Warming Shelter has moved and extended its hours. The shelter is now located at the Tuolumne County Enrichment Center at 101 Hospital Road. That is behind the old Tuolumne General Hospital building. The facility is open 24/7 through Wednesday morning at 8:00 am.
Tuolumne County Office of Emergency Services Coordinator Tracie Riggs says, βIt is open as a warming center during business hours from 8 am to 5 pm and then it goes into a warming shelter where people can actually sleep there from 5 pm to 8 am. There will also be food and water available.β
Last night three people took advantage of a warm place to rest. Riggs says in the event of a power outage they are preparing to open additional sites.
