Columbia, CA — Columbia College will have a new President effective February 1st.
The Yosemite Community College District Board of Directors unanimously selected Dr. Angela Fairchilds for the position.
“I am thrilled to be selected as the next President of Columbia College,” says Dr. Fairchilds. “I appreciate the YCCD Board of Trustees and Chancellor (Joan) Smith giving me this opportunity.”
Fairchilds is currently the President of Woodland Community College in the Yuba Community College District, and she has held that position since 2006. YCCD reports that Fairchilds has 30 years of experience in higher education, and 14 years as a leader in community colleges.
YCCD Chancellor Joan Smith says, “Dr. Fairchilds will be a great fit for Columbia College. Her references were outstanding, and it shows in her strong background in higher education, accreditation, and instruction, in addition to over seven years of experience as a community college president.”
YCCD Board Chair Lynn Martin added, “I believe that she can take Columbia College to the next level. She will fit nicely. I was impressed by her encouraging demeanor.”
Fairchilds has also been an active Rotarian and currently serves on the Executive Board of the Woodland Chamber of Commerce. The three finalists for the position were Dr. Fairchilds, Interim President Dr. Leslie Buckalew and Dr. Michael White.
