Mountain Ranch, CA — A Mountain Ranch man was killed in a crash in Calaveras County yesterday.
The CHP reports that 77-year-old Sheldon Bissell was driving a 2001 Honda northbound on Coachman Way and was stopped at the intersection of Mountain Ranch Road.
A pickup truck driven by 22-year-old Samuel Hoffman of Valley Springs was traveling on Mountain Ranch Road, and the CHP says Bissell pulled out right in the path of Hoffman. The two vehicles collided and Bissell was killed in the accident. It happened at around 7:15am. Hoffman did not sustain any injuries. The crash is still under investigation, but the CHP says drugs and alcohol were not believed to be a factor.
