San Andreas, CA — The California SuperLotto Plus player who won $8 million on Christmas Day has claimed her small fortune. Judith Vermason went to the Lottery’s Sacramento District Office to take the cash value of the ticket, $4.4 million. Vermason says she plans to invest the money for her retirement.
Vermason purchased the SuperLotto Plus winning ticket with the winning numbers 26, 33, 40, 8, 23 and the Mega number 14. She bought it around noon on December 24th at Treats General Store, which is located at 197 East Charles Street in San Andreas. The Treats store also gets a $40,000 retailer bonus. The owner, Fred Lavaroni, told the California Lottery he plans on splitting $20,000 of the bonus with his 23 employees. “We consider the employees the reason this business survives” Lavaroni said.
Nettie Abraham, a Treats employee, says she plans on using her portion of the bonus to help pay for a 40th wedding anniversary trip to Las Vegas. “That money could help after the trip,” Abraham said.
The mission of the California Lottery is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. More than 95 cents of every dollar spent goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation.
