Sonora, CA — If you ride off-road vehicles, forest officials want to hear from you. Your comments are needed to help Stanislaus National Forest complete the preliminary 2015 off-highway vehicle grant applications for consideration by state park and recreation officials.
Forest Spokesperson Rebecca Garcia says, “It’s what the public wants to see out there on the trails. We compile all the comments. We see what the public wants on the ground, and what they want the grant monies to be used for. Usually they try to go with themes to see where they can group this information together.”
Forest Recreation Officials have finished grant applications for two off-highway vehicle (OHV) projects. Those proposed projects include Forest-wide operation and maintenance of OHV trails and facilities; directional and educational trail signing and barrier placement; and routine law enforcement patrols and visitor education.
The public comment period for grant applications begins March 4, 2014 and ends April 7, 2014. You can view the application and make comments during that time by Click here. You can also call (209) 586-3234 to voice your opinion or get more information.
