The concessionaire at New Melones will close up shop after Labor Day.
Shasta Lake Resorts is currently scheduled to remain under contract with the Bureau of Reclamation through December, but the company notified BOR that it will close early because of forecasted low water levels. The marina will cease rental operations after Labor Day weekend, and the company has notified its slip holders that it will cease operations entirely by October 1st. Shasta Lake Resorts has been the concessionaire at New Melones since 1992, and the BOR had intended on renewing the contract with the company for 2015.
A spokesperson for the BOR says that staff is evaluating the options, and the best course of action, to provide future marina and recreation services.
