San Andreas, CA — The CHP has released the name of the driver involved in the tanker crash in San Andreas. He is 58-year-old Larry Noble of Livermore. The accident happened around 8:30 this morning on the 600 block of Gold Oak Road in San Andreas. The CHP reports that a tanker truck carrying 1000-1500 gallons of sodium hypochlorite (bleach) tipped over at the Calaveras Sanitary District, which is near several schools.
The CHP reports that Noble’s 2008 Peterbuilt tanker truck’s right rear tire went off the pavement while making a right turn and dropped several inches below the dirt shoulder.
Officer Jaime Castillo says, ‘This unsafe turning movement basically cause his truck tractor and trailer to overturn on to its right side. There was no release of hazardous material as a result of this collision.”
At this hour, hazmat and emergency crews are working to unload the truck so it can be up-righted. Castillo says that could take 6 to 7 hours. Noble has been flown to Modesto Memorial Medical Center suffering major injuries.
All afternoon practices, performances and competitions scheduled for the afternoon were cancelled at all three schools.
