According to the National Weather Service, wet weather will return to the Mother Lode later today.
Impacts: Wet roads, especially Sunday night into Monday morning. Wintry travel in the high Sierra early Monday morning.
* Rainfall amounts: One to two inches or more over the mountains. A tenth to a quarter of an inch in the northern San Joaquin Valley.
* Snowfall accumulations: Two to ten inches in the upper Sierra Nevada.
* Winds: southwest wind gusts of 40 to 55 mph over the mountain peaks on Monday.
* Timing: By tonight, the front will quickly drop over the Mother Lode, bringing moderate to heavy precipitation and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Drier weather is expected by Monday afternoon.
