Update: Red Flag Warning Issued For The Mother Lode & The Central Valley

The Red Flag Warning continues for both the Mother Lode and the Northern San Joaquin Valley until 7 PM tonight.

Winds of ten to twenty mph, with gusts up to thirty-five mph will continue today. These winds combined with low humidity and dry fuels will lead to critical fire weather conditions into Tuesday evening.

Minimum humidity is forecast to range from six to twenty-one percent.

Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Gusty wind is possible again Thursday into early Friday.

Additionally, the National Weather Service has extended the Wind Advisory for the Northern San Joaquin Valley until 2 PM this afternoon.

Northwest winds of twenty to thirty mph are likely, with possible gusts up to forty mph.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
