Tuolumne, CA — The CHP reports that no one was injured when a vehicle slammed into a fire truck.
That accident happened at 9:15 last night on Tuolumne Road North near the Cedar Springs Road intersection. The CHP reports that a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Shangyu Terence Yeo drifted into the opposing traffic lane, while going through a turn, and hit the front end of an oncoming CAL Fire truck. One of the lanes of Tuolumne Road North was closed for approximately 25 minutes during cleanup.
The CHP reports that Yeo was visiting from Austin, Texas, and did not know the roads very well. Drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash. Yeo was driving a 2013 Hyundai. He traveling an estimated 25-30 mph, and the truck was going approximately 35 mph.
The fire truck was not responding to an emergency at the time, and was in the process of returning back to the station.
