Sonora, CA — City planners want the public’s opinions on housing needs in Sonora. An Initial Study/Negative Declaration has been completed on the Housing Element of the General Plan. The City of Sonora Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to gather feedback from residents regarding that study/declaration.
The Commission already held a Public Open House in January. The city wanted to know if any income groups were not being served. The feedback was used to help develop the updated plan. State law requires communities to identify and analyze existing and projected housing needs when drafting a plan.
City Officials say the update to the Housing Element does not propose any changes in land use designations of the Land Use Element of the General Plan. The public hearing will be held Tuesday, May 20 at the City Council Chambers at 94 North Washington Street in Sonora at 5:30 p.m.
