Moccasin, CA — The U.S. Post Office has closed its Moccasin branch affecting nearly 90 residents in the area. Those residents will now have to go several miles away to the Chinese Camp office to get their mail.
Postal Spokesperson Gus Ruiz says, “If they are a P.O. Box customer, they won’t have to change their key, address or zip code. They can choose to keep their box or choose to have rural delivery.”
Ruiz says they were trying to negotiate a new lease with the building owner, but were unsuccessful. There will be a public meeting to discuss residents’ options and ask questions on May 19 from 5 to 6 pm in the Administration building at One Lakeshore Drive in Moccasin.
