Hikers Early Surprise

Yosemite, CA — The cables will go up ahead of schedule at Half Dome in Yosemite National Park.  The cables will be reset this Friday. That is a week earlier than normal, which Park Officials attribute to this year’s low snow pack.

The early start also means there will be a first-come, first-serve permit for the week of May 16 through the 22nd for hikers to use the cables.  You can apply for a permit starting tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.; permits must be obtained at least two days in advance.

If you want to get a permit, click here or call 877-444-6777.  The fee for processing the permit ranges from $11 to $12.50 to process the permit.

The regularly scheduled Half Dome season will begin Friday, May 23.
