T.U.D. Reemphasizes Drought Measures

Sonora, CA — The T.U.D. Board of Directors is calling for heightened water conservation measures, statewide, as a result of the drought.

Last month Governor Jerry Brown called on Californians to “redouble” conservation measures to help the state manage its water effectively during the drought. The Association of California Water Agencies called on its 430 member agencies, which includes T.U.D., to pass a new resolution in support of increased conservation.

The issue was discussed at this week’s Board meeting. “By and large, what I’m hearing, is that our community has been responsive,” says Ruanne Mikkelsen, T.U.D. Board member. “It’s going to get harder though, because these next months are going to be very hot.”

The T.U.D. Board members emphasized that stricter conservation measures are currently being called for locally than many other areas of the state. The measure was approved 5-0.
