Yosemite, CA — Memorial Weekend is one of the busiest for Yosemite National Park, but you can still pitch a tent to celebrate the holiday. Park Officials say the campgrounds are full, but a few remain open on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Ranger Ashley Mayer says, “We were able to open the Tamarack Flat Campground along Tioga Road. Visitors who get here early may be able to pick up a campsite there. Also, there are some campgrounds outside of the park in the forest service [Stanislaus National Forest] that are first-come, first-serve and you can keep an eye out for them.”
The Park typically sees around 20,000 visitors a day on the Memorial Day weekend. Mayer’s encourages you to come before 10 am or after 2 pm to avoid a majority of the traffic in the park.
