Water Storage Workshop

Sonora, CA — You may have a chance to give your opinions and hear from some experts about future water storage and supply at a proposed Tuolumne Utilities District (T.U.D.) workshop.  At its meeting yesterday, the board voted to have the water committee work with staff to set a future date to hold a board workshop on the county’s water storage problems.

Board President John Maciel explained, “It’s about educating the board about options and getting the public and stake holders to sit around the table and talk about it.  In terms of what are those options, from doing nothing to raising the dam [Lyon’s Dam], but in between there is a whole bunch of stuff.”

In addition, the board voted to request bids for construction of a new 10-inch water main along a stretch of South Washington Street in downtown Sonora. The pipe will stretch from Church Street to Hospital Road. The estimated cost is $615,000.
