Sonora, CA – Construction is on schedule and could even be ahead of schedule according to Sonora City Engineer Jerry Fuccillo.
“We may be lifting the closure early,” says Fuccillo, but he stopped short of giving a day. Fuccillo added, “There are still some things that need to be done in the culvert area, but we will open it up on Friday for sure.”
The roadway has been closed to through traffic since July 28. Crews have been working on excavating a culvert by digging a 23-foot deep trench, which has now been filled. Once that work is completed, the roadway will go back to one-way controlled traffic as crews work on retaining walls in the area.
Currently, all businesses are open and accessible along the roadway. For the current road restrictions click here.
