El Portal Fire Contained

Yosemite, CA — The El Portal Fire is now 100 percent contained.

It started July 26th in Yosemite, and it burned 4,689 acres. Over 3,500 acres burned in the Stanislaus National Forest, and over 1,000 acres in Yosemite. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The operations have now transferred from a Type I incident management team, to a smaller Type 3 team.

Firefighters will continue to monitor and patrol the containment lines.
