The Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the Sierra Nevada above 3,500 feet, until 10 PM tonight.
According to the National Weather Service, five to ten inches of additional snow is expected above the 2,000 foot elevation.
Strong winds in the Sierra Nevada, gusting as high as 65 mph, is further reducing visibilities during this event with whiteout conditions.
This is resulting in significant travel delays with extremely difficult to impossible travel over the mountains.
The gusty winds will likely continue to bring down tree branches. Damage to trees and power lines is possible.
Another winter storm with low snow levels and heavy snow will affect California Wednesday and Thursday.
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the western slope of the northern Sierra Nevada and the Mother Lode above 2,000 feet, from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon.
Total wet snow accumulations will range from two inches to two feet above the 2,000 foot elevation.
Winds may gust as high as 45 mph.
A Winter Storm Warning means there will be snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Travel is not recommended while the Warning is in effect. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
