Sonora, CA — The unemployment rate in the Mother Lode remains slightly above the state average.
New statistics released by the California Employment Development Department put the state’s average at 7.4% for the month of July, unchanged from June.
Tuolumne County’s rate was up to 8.1% in July, compared to 7.6% the month prior. Calaveras County’s rate climbed to 8.6%, compared to 8% in June.
Statewide, sectors that added jobs included mining and logging, utilities, trade, leisure, and health services. Areas that reported declines included manufacturing and financial services.
