Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Planning Commission will discuss a permit for a new Dollar General off Soulsbyville Road. The nationwide retail store is currently completing the 9,100 sq. ft. size store in Jamestown. The new Dollar General is proposed for the west corner of the intersection of Soulsbyville Road and Hwy 108.
The proposed building will be 9,100 sq. ft. the same size as the Jamestown store. There is also a permit request for a 96 square foot sign that will be 21 feet tall to be discussed by the planning commission. The 1.4 acre piece of property is zoned heavy commercial and will include 40 parking spaces. The Outpost mini-mart is across the street slightly to the South of the requested Dollar General site. Within 300 feet of the proposed project site 19 property owners were notified and only one concern was received. The concern was addressed by relocating the proposed driveway to line up with the 6.5 acre vacant lot across the street to not interfere with the Chevron gas station and Outpost driveway.
The Tennessee based Dollar General has 10,000 stores across 40 states. They typically offer off-brand and discounted name brand merchandise.
The planning commission will meet on September 17th at 6:00pm in the Supervisors Chambers at 2 South Green Street.
