Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office will be able to replace a 16-year-old patrol boat.
The Department of Parks and Recreation Division of Boating and Waterways has awarded Tuolumne County an $80,000 grant. The boat that will soon be retired has over 4,000 hours of operation.
The Boat Patrol is planning to select a new vessel that will be multi-functional, and used as a patrol boat, but also provide a large working platform for search and rescue operations. The goal is to have the new boat purchased and in the water by spring of 2015.
The Sheriff’s Office has five patrol boats that rotate to various lakes.
