Water Bond And Groundwater Regulations

Sonora, CA — Those are a couple of the items the T.U.D. Board of Directors will discuss this week.

The Board will hear an update on new state water regulations that were recently signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown. Tuolumne County will need to form a local groundwater sustainability agency by June 30, 2017, and create a groundwater sustainability goal over a 20-year-period.

The Board will also vote whether to pass a resolution of support for Proposition 1, the state’s proposed $7.5 billion water bond.

In addition, the Board will have an open discussion on the topic of “will serve” notices for projects that will eventually require water connections, which is something the district does not offer. The discussion will also focus on the matter of approving new water connections during a time of drought.

Tuesday’s meeting starts at 2pm in the Board meeting room.
