A Physical Presence

Sonora, CA — The Salvation Army wants a physical presence in Tuolumne County so it is opening an office in Sonora.  The new social services office will be in the Old Town Sonora building at 83 South Stewart Street in downtown Sonora.

Salvation Army spokesperson Donita Osborne says the army has had a volunteer presence in the community for 50 years now they are taking it a step farther.

“The push to open this office was due to the fact that we wanted to make our presence known to the public and have an office for the people to walk into,” says Osborne.

The office will open on November 1.  Its regular hours will be 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.  For information on the services offered call (209) 588-1986.

Osborne adds monetary donations can still be sent to P.O. Box 4842 Sonora, CA 95370.  Also, donations of household items should still be dropped off at the trailer located on Mono Way next to R&S Metals.
