ReHorse Rescue Ranch Trots On

The ReHorse Rescue Ranch is similar to a regional “Humane Society” for horses.

Raquelle Van Vleck, Director of ReHorse Rescue Ranch, was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

People who can’t afford their horses turn them over to the ReHorse Rescue Ranch, which feeds and houses them until a new home is found.

According to Van Vleck, the ReHorse Rescue Ranch relies on volunteers and donations.

ReHorse Rescue Ranch is a 501(c)3 and all donations and contributions are tax deductible as permitted by law.

In addition to rescue, they also offer placement services.  According to Van Vleck, they assist owners in placing their horses in loving forever homes.

The ReHorse Rescue Ranch networks with many other rescues in Northern California, which has made placing many of these horses possible. 

It costs hundreds of dollars per day just to feed the horses. Due to the drought, costs for food has gone up 50% over the last few months. Additionally there are medical and other expenses.

Van Vleck said, “We appreciate any donations and volunteers, and if anyone wants to help, they can call me anytime.”

There will be a free Open House this Saturday from 11 AM – 4 PM at the Ranch located on Bell Money Road in Jamestown. The entire family is invited to visit the horses, feed the horses, take pony pictures and tour the facilities. Pets are not welcome.
