Sonora, CA – If you have driven down South Washington Street lately you may have noticed it can be a rough ride.
Tuolumne Utilities District (T.U.D.) has been working on a water pipeline replacement project since August from Church Street to Hospital Road. Crews have created a trench that runs down the center of the road and have been patch paving the line. However, final paving of the street will not happen until next year.
“The city is planning on doing a separate project that will be put out to bid in January,” says Sonora City Engineer Jerry Fuccillo. “It will be done for a spring paving job that will completely smooth out that entire section of the street.”
T.U.D. has been doing the work overnight. The pipeline project to replace about 3000 feet of the 6-inch cast iron pipe with new 10-inch PVC pipe is slated to be completed on November 14.
