Sonora, CA – A new online survey asks employees what their needs are for housing in Tuolumne County. The Workforce Housing Survey put out by the Board of Supervisors Housing Policy Committee seeks input from employees in the county.
“We’re interested in all things housing,” says county Housing Program Coordinator Sheila Shanahan. “We want to know where they’re interested in living, what types of amenities they are interested in, are people more interested in owning or renting. Really getting an idea of how people are feeling and what they are looking for in the community.”
The goal is to find out how the county can better plan for workforce housing needs in communities. The information will be compiled, analyzed, and reported back to the committee.
Shanahan says, “They’re [the committee] interested in using it to help set policy and to help them when they’re analyzing proposals from people to provide housing. To be able to say yes this is the type of housing people said they were looking for or no this really isn’t on target.”
The surveys take about 5 minutes to complete. Shanahan reports 500 questionnaires have already been returned in the first week of the survey being online. It is scheduled to up for another week or possibly longer depending on how many people are filling out the survey, according to Shanahan. If you want to take the survey, you can click here.
