The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch from Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon for the Central Valley, the Mother Lode and the Sierra Nevada below 5500 feet.
Winds of thirty to forty mph with gusts up to sixty mph are anticipated in both the Central Valley and the Mother Lode.
In the Sierra Nevada, winds of thirty-five to forty-five mph are likely with gusts up to seventy-five mph.
Widespread tree damage and power outages are a possibility.
Additionally, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the Sierra Nevada above 5500 feet from Wednesday evening through Friday afternoon.
Snow will begin late Wednesday night and continue into Friday. The period of heaviest snow is expected Thursday afternoon and Thursday night.
Snow accumulations of ten inches to 3 feet are expected above 6000 feet.
